Andrea Chapman
Andrea’s passion for photography stemmed from her watercolour painting and need for quality reference photos. A certified graphic designer, familiar with positive and negative space, Andrea found herself immersed in the world of photography, fascinated with, and challenged, by her new medium. A nature lover, she enjoys sharing her sojourns, her goal to elicit a similar emotion and joy of her subjects from the viewer.
A member of the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club, the Langley Camera Club and the Canadian Association of Photographic Arts (CAPA), she has won a First Merit Award for three of her images. One of these images was one of 15 images chosen Canada-wide by CAPA to represent Canada in the Four Nations Photography Competition held in Australia in 2020, in the monochrome category. The Four Nations represented are Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. She has sold numerous canvases and prints of her landscapes and wildlife.
Andrea’s graphic design background has led her to use her images for her own calendars and cards every year. Brad Vis, the area Member of Parliament, hung two of her images in his office in Ontario. When Andrea isn’t photographing nature, wildlife and landscapes, you can frequently find her mesmerized with dilapidated buildings, rustic barns, old farm machinery, discarded vintage cars, and anything that screams ‘character.’ She has combined her love of nature and photography with bicycling and writing, travelling rail trails and parks, writing brief creative captions to accompany her images. Andrea is currently in the process of writing two books, a coffee table book and a story book with accompanying images. A website and blog has been launched where calendars, cards and linen/bamboo cushion covers with one of Andrea’s sublimated images can be purchased .
