The Monday Painters

It all started between 1961 and 1965. During that time a few friends who enjoyed painting for recreation, decided to paint together on Monday afternoons. when the weather was dependable, they would gather outdoors to paint in "plein air". As word of the group's friendly format spread, women from Chilliwack and Sardis joined in until it became difficult to accommodate all the interest, budding artists in a private residence. It became necessary for the group to move to the hall of the Agassiz united Church to paint.

Many members travel to Vancouver and other points in  the Valley to enhance their painting skills in oils, watercolour, acrylic, and Chinese Brush Painting media. Many gifted teachers have given inspiration, encouragement, and skills to the work of the group's developing artists through time.
